Many of the ideas outlined in ConnectedApart’s free products and services involve interaction with and by children over the internet.
While the online world provides many wonderful opportunities (not least of which, staying connected with the people we love), it also has its risks. This is especially true for children.
As outlined by UNICEF in a June 2018 report, “children who are connected can benefit from numerous opportunities, but may also be exposed to a myriad of risks. Those who are not connected risk exclusion and disadvantage as most of the modern world remains out of their reach”.
This page aims to provide parents and/or legal guardians with some useful resources on the subject of ‘Safety Online for Children’ to ensure that staying connected with the children we love while we’re apart remains a safe, healthy and enjoyable experience for all.
Note: as outlined in ConnectedApart’s Terms of Use, ConnectedApart is not intended for children under the age of 13. ConnectedApart does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from visitors in this age group. Visitors to ConnectedApart are asked NOT to provide information about children – theirs or anyone else’s, whatever the child’s age. ConnectedApart encourages parents and/or legal guardians to talk to their children about online safety, including their use of the internet, and the information they disclose to ConnectedApart or any other web sites.
